Challenge The Status Quo

 

If you're NOT generating enough closings, if you're NOT earning enough commission checks, if you feel as if the current market has become too difficult to succeed in or if your lead generation model isn't supplying you with hundreds of prospects every single month, then what I'm about to share with you should have massive appeal.  If not, don't read any more, it will probably only discourage you more!

Hi. I'm Terry Eibeck, Broker/Owner of Regional Realty in Florence, Kentucky.  You and I may or may not have met in the past.  As one of the more UNTRADITIONAL Brokers in the area, I'm enjoying a stellar, successful career by NOT doing what most other Realtors are doing. I learned a few years ago that if something ISN'T working for the majority of agents, creating closings and commission checks, then it's likely NOT going to work for me.

In fact, emulating those bad habits and expecting a different outcome is just the Realtor's definition of insanity.

In contrast, by looking outside Real Estate at what other successful business owners do every day to generate new business and then copying those methods, I'm finding myself in the enviable position of having more buyers and sellers begging me for help than I can personally handle right now.

So, to be brutally honest, I'm looking for help, COMPETENT professional help!  This is a message for any Real Estate Agents in the Northern Kentucky area who still want an exciting, very well paying career in our local market and who possess a good work ethic. (Don't bother continuing if you're lazy or unmotivated as success in this business takes hard work and dedication.) I want to talk to you very frankly about our current market, how it may be affecting your career, and the subsequent loss of commission this new market has caused. The bottom line here is it may NOT be your fault if things are tough right now and understanding that may be the turning point for you.

At the outset you need to REALLY BELIEVE that it can be as good as you hoped.

It's pretty hard to affect change if you don't have a deep seated belief that you can do better. That belief set is what helps you distinguish the path to success (which is LESS traveled) from that of the typical Status Quo (the road MOSTLY traveled).

Remember why you came into Real Estate originally?  What lured you in?  I've asked this question to many agents. Generally, the consensus is the same and comments reflect a common reason.  I call it the "Success Ratio" - that elusive combination of Commission Checks and Freedom, the common first and second motivators to become a Realtor. In the Northern Kentucky area, with commission checks averaging around $4400, it's easy to see why a person would choose real estate as a career.  How many of those a month do you need to consider yourself successful? However, recent statistics show a typical realtor will only complete a minimum number of deals this year.

Just do the math: There are 1,500+ agents (allowing for attrition) and about 4,500 sales that took place in 2010. What's the average per agent? More importantly, CAN YOU LIVE ON THE AVERAGE?  Some Top Producing agents in the Northern Kentucky area this year will do more than 100 transactions which will skew (lower) this number bringing the agent average transaction count DOWN.

Again, the question is pretty easy to comprehend: CAN YOU LIVE ON THE AVERAGE?

So, with all the negative stuff coming at us in these tough economic times, reasons to second guess or even doubt the decision to become a Realtor are pretty evident right now.

You're not alone in your feelings.  Many agents all over North America in literally every type and size of market that exists are facing the same overwhelming factors of failure and fear. For many, their career is in jeopardy or even gone completely.

You don't have to look far to see how many agents have become victims of the current market condition because they simply never developed good work habits or enough systems to keep them fed with leads, prospects, and opportunities.  In a business that's normally regarded as a "numbers" business, agents who admit defeat and end up leaving admit they never had enough numbers to earn a decent living.

Remember the good old days?  When things seemed normal?  A few bumps in the road here and there, the odd tough late night negotiation, but listings generally sold in less than two months and buyers regularly bought and felt really safe about their purchase.  Remember when a hot one came on the MLS and you had to get your buyer in fast because your instinct told you it was a winner and it would sell quickly?  Remember the days when buyers thought buying was the smartest thing they could do because of Northern Kentucky's outstanding appreciation rates? Let's face it, for home owners Northern Kentucky's robust market has almost always provided a rewarding experience.

Realtors who UNDERSTOOD the market, made (and continue to make) great money because of their systemized approach and because they continue to provide a top notch, predictable level of service. Personally, working as a seller's specialist, I made a small fortune because I developed an effective, systemized approach to getting them sold. I remember those days well but I also know this: NOTHING STAYS THE SAME, if it does, atrophy sets in.
